It’s almost that time of the Year again. A time when retailers, both online and offline, would be dropping prices on most of their [less significant] products in order to scoop as much cash as possible from your wallets.
It’s Black Friday 2017.
Deals (as always) would span across various categories, and Chromebooks (Chromeboxes too) would not be left out.
In this article, we’d briefly touch on Chromebook Black Friday deals which would most likely hit the shelves a few days from now and would also likely run through Cyber Monday deals up until the end of the year.
What to Expect From Major Brands.
See how many times I used the word “likely” up there?
Yeah, this article IS speculative, so take things pointed out here with a “pinch of salt”.
That disclaimer out the way, here are the major Chromebook brands and what devices are expected to receive significant price cuts from most retailers.
The owners of Chrome OS themselves.
A few weeks back, they dropped a premium, PREMIUM, device on the Chrome OS community during their October hardware event. The same event which saw the announcement of this year’s Google flagship Android devices — The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.
The probability of that device — The Pixelbook — getting significant price drops during the Black Friday promotions is closer to zero than it is to one.
Old generation Chrome OS Pixel devices like the Google Chromebook Pixel 1st gen. (2013) and Google Chromebook Pixel 2nd gen. (2015), on the other hand, would most likely receive discounts, albeit not from Google themselves. Hell, Google doesn’t even officially retail these devices anymore, so, discounted pixel devices during the promotions would be gotten from retailers on various online marketplaces.
Two devices which most folks would be on the lookout for are the Samsung Chromebook Plus and the Samsung Chromebook Pro, both announced at CES earlier this year.
Those two are the best Samsung Chrome OS devices currently available in the market at the moment, no doubt, and they both support Android apps right out of the box.
Getting them at discounted rates during the Black Friday and Cyber Monday promotions would be much more likely compared to the new Pixelbook. The Chromebook Plus would be on the receiving end of the higher discount.
You should, however, also be on the lookout for older Samsung devices like the various versions of the Samsung Chromebook 3 which would retail for close to the $100 mark.
Acer recently debuted a few new Chromebooks but those would most likely not be getting any significant discounts.
Dated devices like the Acer Chromebook 14, the Acer R11 & R13, would most definitely be discounted across major stores so be on the lookout for those.
Apart from those three brands outlined above, other OEMs do not have any major new Chrome OS devices save for Lenovo with the new (but old) Flex 11 and Asus with the Chromebook Flip 302CA.
However, most of their old (and still fully functional) devices would definitely be getting price cuts.
